Iuliobona

Lillebonne

Ivliobona is Iuliobona, today Lillebonne in Normandy, the chief town of the Caleti near the mouth of the Seine. Its Roman theatre is among the finest Roman ruins in northern France, and baths and many inscriptions have also been found. One mosaic floor is even signed by its makers: Titus Sennius Felix, a citizen of Puteoli on the Bay of Naples, and his pupil Amor, probably a local man. Four roads met here, leading to Rouen, to Évreux, to the Seine estuary and to Brevodurum.
