Dadastana

? İslamalan bei Karahisar

Dadastana was a village on the road from Nicaea to Ancyra, right on the border between Bithynia and Galatia. It is remembered for one night: on 17 February 364 the emperor Jovian, marching home from the Persian war, was found dead here. The next year troops of the usurper Procopius went over at the same place to Arintheus, a general of Valens. A Roman and early Byzantine cemetery was found in 2009 near İslamalan, north of Karahisar. On the map the s of the name has faded almost away, even in the photograph of 1888.
