Danae

? Kündür

Danae may take its name from Greek myth, from Danaë, the mother of Perseus, or it may be a Greek form of a local name such as Dana. The geographer Ptolemy counts the town among the inland places of Pontus, between Zela and Sebasteia. On the map it is a station on the road from Comana Pontica to Nicopolis, in the valley of the Iris or of its headwater, the Tozanlı Irmak. It is sought near Kündür, and ruins have been found at the village of Tozanlıfındıcak, south-west of it.
