Daravescos

Draviskos

Daravescos is Drabeskos, a town of the Thracian Edonians north of Amphipolis, on the edge of the fertile plain of the Angites, a tributary of the Strymon. Here, around 465 BC, the Thracians crushed the Athenian settlers sent to the Strymon, as Thucydides records. The town lived on into Roman times as a station on this road, eight miles from Strymon and twelve from Philippis.
