Road station

Dablis

? bei Çayköy nw. von Himmetoğlu

Dablis, the Dableis of Ptolemy, was a station on the Pilgrims' Road from Nicaea to Ancyra, probably near Çayköy, just north-west of today's Himmetoğlu, where a large cemetery and many carved stones mark a rich settlement. Milestones count sixty-four miles from Nicaea here; the map's figures add up to sixty-three. The whole road had been rebuilt under Vespasian in 78. In the 7th century the life of Saint Theodore of Sykeon mentions hot baths at Dablia, and warm springs still rise north and south of the village.
