Karahüyük

Mideo is Midaeum, a Phrygian town named after its legendary founder, King Midas, who still appeared on its coins under the emperor Gordian the Third. It stood on a large mound near Karahüyük, on the road from Dorylaeum to Pessinus, and was lived in from Phrygian to Byzantine times. Here Sextus Pompeius was captured in 36 BC. The town was a seat of the cult of Cybele and later a bishop's see, and in 358 the Arian Eunomius was held here on his way to Constantinople. Massive Roman building fragments still lie beside the mound.
