Road station

Tateabio

wahrscheinlich nnw. von Arıcaklar

Tateabio is Tatawion, a name probably built on the personal name Tata; the route lists shorten it to Tottaio and Tutaio. It was the second stop east of Nicaea on the Pilgrims' Road towards Ancyra, a village that grew into a market with its own council of elders, and a law of 388 complains that its councillors were running away from their public duties. The site lies on an isolated hilltop plateau north-north-west of today's Arıcaklar, near Gölpazarı, with walls, inscriptions and plenty of red pottery. The map forgot the kink that marks the stop.
