Tassiros
Listen to the story
Tassiros is the river that the Roman writer Pliny and the historian Arrian call the Tarsuras, while the Ravenna list writes Tasbiros. Older research placed the station at Gagida, on a river of the same name, but its site remains uncertain: the river ought to be crossed before Cyanes is reached, not after, and the mapmaker, who draws no river here at all, may simply not have known that. The map counts twelve Roman miles from Cyanes and four on to Stempeo.
