Stempeo

Skurcha

Stempeo marks the river Astelephos, which Arrian sets a hundred and twenty stades from Dioscurias, the later Sebastopolis; an anonymous sailing guide adds that the river was by then called the Euripos. The river is identified with the Skurcha. Beyond it the Ravenna list, which writes Stelippo, adds Nicopolis and Lamupulis, and one of these, probably Lamupulis, seems to have dropped out of the map here. As it stands, the station lies four Roman miles from Tassiros and four more from Sebastopolis.
