Road station

Stanecli

Mali Mošunj

Stanecli was a road station in the Roman province of Dalmatia, on the road from Sirmium to Salona, and no other ancient source names it. The map gives it a small drawing of a farmstead, the kind of sign that probably promised travellers shelter and a change of horses. Older research looked for it at the sulphur spa of Ilidža near Sarajevo, where ruins had been found; today it is placed at Mali Mošunj in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a site rich in Roman inscriptions. The figure to the next station, Argentaria, is missing, and scholars suspect that a stretch of road has dropped out here.
