Stenarum

Boiţa

Stenarum, fully Caput Stenarum, the head of the narrows, stood at the entrance to the Red Tower Pass, at Boița near Tălmaciu in Romania, where the road from Apulum reached the gorge of the Olt. The list of places compiled in Ravenna gives the full name. The map sets Stenarum twelve Roman miles from Cedonia, but forty-four from Pons Vetus, a figure far too high for the short way through the pass.
