Le Monèstier
Stabatione lay on the road from Grenoble over the Col du Lautaret to Briançon, and is usually placed at Le Monêtier, between the pass and Briançon. Other suggestions were Les Fontenils, Villeneuve and even Corps. The list of places compiled in Ravenna writes Savatione. From here the map's line runs on for seven miles to a point that has no name on the map, where modern research restores Briançon; older research debated where the several roads into Briançon met.
