Potamiae

Listen to the story

Potamiae names a people or district in Asia Minor, and the Greek geographer Strabo knew it as Potamia, a district of Paphlagonia on the Black Sea coast. The later coastal guides of Arrian and Marcian mention a Potamoi, a fort with a small harbour. It is thought to be the same place the map marks elsewhere as Mileto, and a spot there is still called Potami.
