Stai looks like a clipped name: the Ravenna list has Stalec, and older research takes the map's entry for the same name, cut short. The station has been sought near Djadjerim, or by another suggestion at Simalgan. The map counts ten Roman miles from Fociana and thirty-five on to Saphani, about fifty-two kilometres.
