Tasciaca

Thésée

Tasciaca is Thésée, on the road from Tours to Bourges, and the map is the only ancient source that names it. The name is read as place of Tascius. A Roman building at Thésée has been taken for a travellers' station, and one older historian imagined busy traffic, fairs and pilgrimages at this border point. Older research also wondered whether the true name was Cassiciate, known from the bronze horse of Neuvy-en-Sullias, but this is hardly justified. The map's figure onward to Gabris, twenty-four, is far too large; about fourteen would fit.
