Cyrro

~ Zaytūnak

Cyrro was a modest town tucked away in the hills of Syria, yet under Roman rule it served as the base of the Tenth Legion, as the historian Tacitus records, and it gave its name to a whole district, the Cyrrhestica. The emperor Justinian later restored it, and its ruins lie near Zaytūnak. The Roman register of routes lists the town too, and the map counts thirty-six Roman miles from Gendarum and twenty on to Channunia.
