Thurae stood on a road through northern Syria, and our database places it at Kilis, in southern Turkey. Scholars have looked for it beside a small river called the Nijara Suju, and set aside the village of Turont as lying too far off the route. Seventeen Roman miles separate it from Regia, while the stretch from Gendarum carries no figure at all.
