Thremitus
~ Tremetousiá , Τρεμετουσιά
Listen to the story
Thremitus lay in the interior of Cyprus, at the village of Tremetousia, and the geographer Ptolemy knew it in its Greek form. The map marks the town with a pair of towers, the usual sign for a settlement of some standing. Roads lead twenty-four Roman miles to Tamiso and twenty-four to Cito. Eighteen miles are given to Salamis on the coast, yet the road line on that stretch was never drawn, so the figure stands without its road, beside a river crossing.
