Cyparissa

Boza

Cyparissa is Cyparissia, today Kyparissia on the west coast of Messenia in Greece, where parts of the ancient acropolis wall survive beneath a medieval castle. Its harbour was, with Pylos and Methone, one of the few important ways from Messenia to the sea, and the whole bay was named after the town. It already appears on the clay tablets of Mycenaean Pylos and in Homer's catalogue of ships. The Arcadians captured it in 365 BC, and under the Roman emperors it struck its own coins.
