Deloriaco

Calvatone

Listen to the story

Deloriaco is the map's garbled spelling of Bedriacum, the village near Calvatone between Cremona and Mantua where two battles of the civil war were fought in 69 AD, the year of the four emperors: first Otho's army was defeated there, then that of Vitellius. The map sets it twenty-two Roman miles, about thirty-three kilometres, from its illegible neighbour and gives no figure for the road on to Mantua.
