Curia

Chur

Listen to the story

Chur in Graubünden appears here for the second time on the map, as Curia, on a road that comes from Arbor Felix, now Arbon on Lake Constance. From Chur the road runs sixty Roman miles straight to an unnamed lake, probably Lake Como or Lake Maggiore, and simply ends there. Roman Chur remained a modest place: its finds come from a quarter still called the Welschdörfli, and a late Roman fort rose above it.
