Fines

Giat et Voingt? Puys-de-Voingt?

Near Giat and Voingt, on the old border between Auvergne and the Limousin, lay the station the map calls Fines, on the road from Clermont to Ahun. The name means boundaries, and this one separated the Arverni of Clermont from the Lemovices of Limoges. Its exact site is disputed: Saint-Avit, Voingt and Feix have all been proposed, and older research traced a Roman road by Olby that leads towards Feix. On the map, the name is written below the line of the road.
