Road station

Fines

Château-du-Loir

On the road from Le Mans to Tours, the station of Fines has in effect no stretch of its own: the map gives no distance figure after it and does not mark where its road begins, and a figure of sixteen or eighteen has probably dropped out. It is thought to have lain at Château-du-Loir in France, though Vaas has also been suggested. The name means At the Border, and several other places on the map share it; this one lies sixteen Roman miles from Le Mans.
