Filena

(road station, possibly Thil-le-Châtel)

Filena is most likely a slip for Tilena, today Til-Châtel on the Tille, north of Dijon, where the road from Langres to Lyon met the military road from Besançon. Traces of a fortified camp survive, and the place was a religious centre: a Celtic spring cult, whose spring is now dedicated to Saint Petronilla, and dedications to the Mothers and to Epona, all set up by legionaries. A Merovingian coin reads Tila castro. Older copies read the name as Filem or Filema, and the correction to Tilena remains a guess.
