Fidentia

Fidenza · Borgo S. Donnino [2]

Listen to the story

Fidentia, a name of good omen meaning confidence, was founded on the Via Aemilia in the second century BC, and in 82 BC, in the civil war, Sulla's general Marcus Lucullus held out here against a siege by Carbo's army. By late Roman times it had shrunk to a village, in the Middle Ages it was called Borgo San Donnino, and in 1927 the town took back its Roman name as Fidenza.
