Road station
Consinto
[near Xanthe?; unlocated]
Consinto was a change of horses on the Via Egnatia north of Abdera, probably on the river Kossinites, whose name it seems to share; the Roman register of routes writes Cosinto. Its exact site is unknown, perhaps near today's Xanthi, around the village of Kimmeria. The countryside here is rich in finds, among them a rock relief of Mithras killing the bull from the 2nd or 3rd century, and since 2015 a survey project around Abdera and Xanthi has been exploring the area.
