Conuetoni

Baylham House (Barrington)

Convetoni is Combretovium, a road station at Baylham House near Ipswich in Suffolk, on the road from the land of the Iceni to London. On the map the second o of the name is written above the line, between the t and the n, apparently a slip that the copyist spotted and corrected. Its distances only half agree with the Roman register of routes: fifteen miles to Ad Ansam in both, but fifteen to Sinomagus on the map, where the register has twenty-two.
