Cio
Gemlik
Cio is Kios, the harbour town at Gemlik in Turkey, and the map shows it twice: the place nearby with a picture of two towers, labelled Prusias, is the same town under the name it took from King Prusias the First of Bithynia. The Roman writer Pliny also took them for two towns. The map puts it inland, though it lay on its own gulf of the Sea of Marmara, at the foot of Mount Arganthonion, a busy port for nearby Phrygia. Legend credited its founding to the Argonaut Polyphemus or to Heracles, but it was really a colony of Miletus, founded in 626 BC.
