Cedoniae

Sibiu?

Listen to the story

Cedoniae, the Roman Cedonia, was a station on the road from Apulum to the Olt valley in Roman Dacia, perhaps at Sibiu in Romania, where Roman inscriptions have been found; others have placed it at Miercurea Sibiului or Ocna Sibiului. The list of places compiled in Ravenna adds that a town called Burticum lay close by. The map sets Cedoniae twelve Roman miles, about eighteen kilometres, from Caput Stenarum and twenty-four from Acidava.
