Pretorio

Copăceni

Pretorio stood at the southern foot of the Red Tower Pass, the gap by which the Olt breaks through the Carpathians, at Copăceni in Romania; older research found ruins and Roman inscriptions between Racovița and Copăceni. Praetorium means a commander's quarters or an official lodging, and the map uses the name three times. The map sets Pretorio fifteen Roman miles, about twenty-two kilometres, from Arutela and nine from Pons Vetus.
