Promona

Tepljuh

Promona was a hill fortress at Tepljuh near Drniš in Croatia, below the mountain that still bears the name Promina. In 51 BC the Dalmatae seized it from the Liburni, and Caesar's attempt to have it returned failed. In 34 BC Octavian and Agrippa took it from the Dalmatae and their leader Versus, a siege described by the Greek historian Appian. Afterwards Roman auxiliary cohorts held Promona, while a legion lay at nearby Burnum.
