Road station

Cellis

bei Petres · Πέτρες

Cellis, at the storehouses, from the Latin cella, was probably a nickname rather than an official name for this station on the Via Egnatia in western Macedonia. It lay near today's Petres, where two milestones have been found, or by the village that Greece renamed Kelli after it, north of Lake Petres, which the map leaves out. The map counts forty-five miles on to Edessa; the route lists give only twenty-eight or thirty-three, so the forty-five fit only a detour like that of the modern railway.
