Bada

Macedonia, s. Kommentar

Listen to the story

Bada is a riddle. Some read it as a mangled Pydna, for otherwise that famous city would be missing from the map, though such a slip is hard to explain. Others see Balla, misread from Greek capitals, a town whose people were moved to Pythion in Thessaly. A fortified town found near Kypseli, guarding the Haliacmon and the road from Katerini to Veria, may be the place; older suggestions look at Kolindros. The twenty miles the map gives on to Arulos are too many, perhaps borrowed from the distance to Pella.
