Road station

Baccarus

(between Sitifis and Sigus) (Barrington) · Hr. el Mahrab (Miller)

Listen to the story

Baccarus was a station on the road from Sitifis to Sigus, five Roman miles from Ad Stabulum Olearium and ten from Ad Sturnos. The Ravenna list calls it Baccaras. It should lie in the borderland between Numidia and Mauretania, but nobody has pinned it down: an attempt to place it at Bazer rests on a single doubtful inscription.
