Azizis

Fîrliug

Azizis, the Aizisis of the Greek geographer Ptolemy, lay at Fârliug in the Romanian Banat, on the road by which Trajan first marched into the Dacian mountains against Decebalus; his own account, quoted by a later Latin grammarian, notes that after Berzobis the army advanced to Aizis. Older research placed it near Ezeriș. On the map the next stage, to Caput Bubali, is only three miles, where about ten would be expected.
