Celeuso

Pförring

Celevso is Celeusum, the fort at Pförring near the Danube in Bavaria. Inscriptions and stamped tiles name its garrisons, among them a cavalry regiment called the Ala of the Singulares and a cohort raised in the East. On the map it lies nine Roman miles from Germanicum and only three from Abusina, today Eining. From Abusina on, the Roman register of routes follows the bank of the Danube all the way to Taurunum, today Belgrade, listing the frontier garrisons in great detail.
