Aulazon

(near Bir el-Asela) (Barrington)

Aulazon follows Scina, the place of the Jews, on the road along the Great Syrtis, and the Ravenna list, which spells it the same way, sets it by the sea. Its site is sought near Bir el-Asela in Libya. Older research thought it the same place as Opiros, the name the map writes out in the sea: a village with a harbour for small ships and a fort built by the local people. The station belongs to late antique times.
