Zure

Magen er-Rumia

Zure lay thirteen Roman miles beyond Macomada Selorum on the road along the Great Syrtis, and thirteen more brought travellers to Ad Speluncas. It was a bishop's seat: Victor of Vita mentions a bishop of Zure. The site is placed at Magen er-Rumia in Libya, and the Ravenna list writes Zaures. Some older copies of the map give the first distance as twelve, or leave it out altogether.
