Ptemari

Kaletepe bei Gönülyurdu (Çürük) ?

Ptemari is a garbled Pleuramis, as the geographer Ptolemy writes it, and the true form was probably Pleumaris, a name with echoes in place names from cuneiform texts. It was a hilltop settlement on the important road from Euagina to Zela, now placed at Kaletepe near Gönülyurdu in the province of Yozgat. A fortress already stood on the rock in the Iron Age, with a settlement around it. Later finds include Roman rock-cut tombs, wrecked by illegal digging, late Roman coins, and a large building like a bishop's residence, with a floor mosaic of the 5th or 6th century.
