Presidio

Henchir el-Mdeina (Barrington)

Presidio comes from the Latin praesidium, a garrison or guard post, and the station lay eighteen Roman miles from Putea Pallene and fifteen from Pisida Municipio. It is placed at Henchir el-Mdeina, a site linked with the Hellenistic Taricheiai and with Zouchis, while its Roman name belongs to late antiquity. Right beside it, with no road to connect them, the map writes Rufinia Taberna, an inn. The Ravenna list calls the station Presidium.
