Putea
(SE Augemmi) (Barrington)
Putea, a name that seems to come from the Latin word for a well, appears in Ptolemy too, and the Ravenna list writes Ad Putam or Ad Putea. One suggestion places it at Ras el Ain, where Roman fortifications stand, and a strikingly large number of springs lie further south at Remada. The map gives no distance figure on either side, neither from the river Ausere nor on to Laminiae.
