Pisida Municipio

Bu Chemmasc (Barrington)

Pisida Municipio was a town on the coast road of Tripolitania, fifteen Roman miles from Presidio and twenty from the inn of Ad Cypsaria Taberna. The map grants it the rank of a municipium, while the Roman register of routes calls it merely a village, and Ptolemy knew a harbour here called Pisindon. From this point the map's road crossed the causeway that divides the lake or bay of Kelab from the sea, whereas the register describes a way round the lake. A bishop of its community appears in a list of bishops from Carthage, and the site is placed at Bu Chemmasc.
