Road station

Pisandes

Castello di Lagopesole [3]

Listen to the story

Pisandes was a station on the Via Herculia at Castello di Lagopesole, beside a lake that has since dried up; an inscription found there records repairs to the road in 311 AD. The list of places compiled in Ravenna runs this name together with the next station, Lucos, into a single word, Locupissandas. On the map the road leading to it seems to start at Silvium, although it should begin at Venusia.
