Road station

Pistum

Ishmi? [Barrington]

Listen to the story

Pistum was a station on the road from Lissus to Dyrrachium, today Durrës, in Albania, probably near the crossing of the river Ishëm west of Krujë, a little inland rather than on the coast where the map seems to put it. A Roman milestone of the years 222 to 235 has been found in the region, and the fortress of Krujë has yielded pottery of the third century BC and graves of late antiquity. The list of places compiled in Ravenna writes Plistum.
