Plateas

Kokkla

Plateas is Plataea in Boeotia, on the northern slope of Mount Cithaeron near Kokkla in Greece, the little town that stood beside Athens at Marathon and gave its name to a great victory over the Persians. Destroyed by the Spartans in the Peloponnesian War and again by Thebes, it was restored after Philip of Macedon's victory at Chaeronea. On the map the road from here to Elatea runs straight on, when in fact it turned north-west, a slip in turning a written list of stations into a drawing.
