Pistoris

Pistoia

Listen to the story

Pistoriae, which the map writes as Pistoris, is Pistoia in Tuscany, where a pass opens northwards over the Apennines, and it was near here in 62 BC that the conspirator Catiline made his last stand and fell fighting, as the Roman historian Sallust describes. The town is first mentioned in a comedy by Plautus around 200 BC, and later it became a stop on the road from Florence to Lucca.
