Road station
Piscinas

Listen to the story
Piscinas, the fish ponds, was a station on the coast road between Pisa and Vada, probably named after fish ponds nearby, and it is looked for just north of Marmigliaio near Livorno, where a Roman milestone has been found. The map's sixteen Roman miles from Turrita are probably a slip for six, about nine kilometres, since only then does the whole road from Pisa to Vada add up.
