Road station

Pocrinio

Digoin-sur-Loire

Pocrinio was a rest station in the land of the Aedui, near the border with Aquitania, on the road from Autun towards the spa of Aquae Bormonis. Lying between Toulon-sur-Arroux and Thiel, it is now placed near Digoin, where the Arroux flows into the Loire. Many older writers preferred Perrigny, mainly because the names sound alike; others chose Paray-le-Monial. One looked to La Brosse, where walls of an old Loire bridge, the pont Bernachon, were found in the seventeenth century. On the map, the distance to Ariolica is missing.
