Gerra
vielleicht bei Andýab
Gerra was a small border post of Egypt between Pelusium and Mount Casius. A commentary on the writer Lucian derives its name from the huts, gerra in Greek, that the soldiers stationed there had built for themselves, and a late Roman list of army posts places a cavalry regiment here, the Ala Prima Herculia. The map counts eight Roman miles from Pelusium and twenty-three on to Cassio, a figure written at the very start of that stretch. Older research looked for the place near Andyab.
