Road station
Gerame
Gerame is a garbled form of Germe, a name probably derived from a Thracian word for a warm spring. The Roman register of routes lists the same station on the road from Pergamon to Thyatira, and it should not be confused with Hiera Germe, a town in Mysia with a sacred spring and thermal baths. This roadside Germe was probably the fortress that the Catalans stormed in 1304. It is usually sought near Soma on the upper Caicus, where inscriptions found nearby point to an ancient settlement.
